Synopsis:
"Revered as one of the best horror
films produced by Hammer, THE DEVIL RIDES OUT is a chilling
battle between good and evil set in the 1930s. Christopher
Lee, perhaps best known for his role as Dracula,
gets to show his good side as the heroic and cavalier Duc
de Richleau, who maintains the air of a gentleman throughout
his tireless battle with a Satanic coven, led by the wonderfully
villainous Mocata (Charles Gray).
An entertaining and extremely chilling adaptation of Dennis
Wheatly's classic horror novel."

My oppinion:
I had heard some good things about this
one before seeing it, and I got what I hoped for. Christopher
Lee plays the good guy for a change, and he does
so very convincingly. Charles
Gray also has to be mentioned as
he does a really chilling and unforgettable performance as
the satanic cult leader, Mocata. The acting is pretty good
all around. The story works very well and there are some moments
of true terror, especially when Lee and company is in the
protecting circle. The atmosphere is chilling all the way!
The low budget made some of the effects look a bit cheap,
but some were also convincing, but it isn't the effects that
make this movie a great one, it's everything else!
Bottom line is, this movie just worked for me, and I enjoyed
every minute of it, definantly one of Hammer's best!
Highly recommended!
