Synopsis:
"At the height of the Sword &
Sorcery craze, Maestro Of Gore Lucio
Fulci attacked the genre like no filmmaker had
ever done before. Jorge Rivero
(RIO LOBO),
Andrea Occhipinti
(NEW YORK RIPPER)
and the luscious Sabrina Sellers
(WHITE CANNIBAL QUEEN)
star in this surreal epic of brain-bashing barbarians and
breast-baring maidens, filled with eye-popping cinematography,
jaw-dropping violence and a pounding score by Claudio
Simonetti of Goblin."

My oppinion:
I haven't seen to many movies in the fantasy
genre before. One of those I have seen is Mario
Bava's "Hercules
in the Haunted World" which I didn't like
much. So, I was afraid I'd feel the same about Fulcis attempt
at this genre. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised.
It's not a great movie, as it has its problems. The Plot isn't
very impressive, neither is the characters and acting really.
Also, some of the special effects (not all) are just laughable.
But, for what it lacks in plot, it makes up for with its strange
and mystical atmosphere and strange score. The soroundings
are very colourful and the entire movie looks a bit blurred,
but I think that was intentionally as it helps create the
mystiqe. The cinematography is also top notch!I wasn't really
sure what to expect on the gore-side of this one, but it has
a nice amount of that too. You even get some bits of nudity.
And not to forget, Fulci has thrown in some nice looking zombie
like creatures as well! In the end, I felt very much entertained,
and personally I'd recommend Conquest to fans of the fantasy
genre, as well as Fulci fans!
