During his life, Fulci directed all kinds of movies, from comedies, musicals, westerns, family adventures and of course the gory horror movies that he's most known for. Lucio Fulci started his career as a screenwriter and assistant director before he directed his first movie (a comedy): "The Thieves" (1959). He didn't make his first horror/giallo movie until 1971 when he did "A Lizard in a Woman's Skin" aka. "Schizoid" and "Don't torture a duckling" (1972). These two became very controversial because of the graphic violence and Fulci's portraial of catholosism. After that he made some more comedies, a few westerns , including "Four of the Apocalypse" (1975) and another horror called "Murder to the Tune of the Seven Black Notes" (1977). His international breakthrough came with his zombie/gore movie: "Zombie" (1979) aka. "Zombie Flesh-Eaters". In the next few years, he continued making lots of gore movies, giving him the unofficial title "Godfather of Gore", these being some of the most popular and well known: "City of the Living Dead" (1980), "The Black Cat" (1981), "Beyond, The" (1981) and "The New York Ripper" (1982). These years were no doubt the best of his career. After that both his health and the movies started going downhill. Despite that, he managed to come out with some memorable work, like: "Zombie 3" (1988) aka. "Zombie Flesh Eaters 2", TV-movie "The House of Clocks" (1989) and "A Cat In the Brain" (1990). His last movie was "Voices from Beyond" (1994). Lucio Fulci passed away in March 1996.
